Real Seafood Co. Opens in Downtown Grand Rapids

CWD Real Estate Investment is excited to welcome Real Seafood Company to 141 Lyon in Downtown Grand Rapids. The restaurant will occupy the western corner of the site, anchoring the newly developed retail spaces along Lyon St and Monroe Ave. Real Seafood Company of Grand Rapids officially opens to the public for its first dinner service at 4 pm on Tuesday, May 24, 2022!

“After seeing how supportive the community has been over the years of The Chop House and Palio, we couldn’t wait to add to our collection of restaurants here in town.  Grand Rapids is a wonderful city.  Our General Manager, Josh Baumann, is born and raised here; and we look forward to providing memorable experiences for the residents.” Kevin Gudejko – CEO & President of Mainstreet Ventures Restaurant Group

141 Lyon’s location within the city’s urban core places Real Seafood Co. at the very center of the action in the 111 Lyon development location. The restaurant’s seafood-focused menu brings a new amenity to the surrounding hospitality, entertainment, and corporate business functions. “We are excited and committed to procuring the freshest seafood available and providing a memorable guest experience in a unique atmosphere,” says Kevin Gudejko.

Originally constructed in the 1970s, 111 Lyon has been an iconic tribute to the city’s culture and history. While these aspects are important to its presence, the site had remained mostly unchanged over the decades.

The 111 Lyon retail development began in 2019, introducing four new retail storefronts while making significant improvements to the site’s accessibility and aesthetic. The improved site includes ADA ramps connecting the upper and lower-level plazas, snowmelt systems in the sidewalk, a new lower-level common area lobby, and more.

“It’s been exciting to see things come together at 111 Lyon,” says Scott Wierda, Managing Partner at CWD Real Estate Investment. “We went into this project with the intention of creating a destination that helps cultivate the energy and activity Downtown Grand Rapids has seen in the last few years. Real Seafood Co. will provide an excellent dining option to visitors at the surrounding hotels, the convention center, and the surrounding corporate offices.”

The initial ribbon-cutting ceremony in conjunction with the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce will be at 4:30 pm on Monday, May 23 at the first private fundraising event. This event supports the Griffins Youth Foundation.  Tickets to this event are available @ https://resy.com/cities/gr/venues/the-real-seafood-co-grand-rapids/events/grand-opening-2022-05-23

The fundraising event will provide guests with a chef-inspired prix fixe dinner menu that includes some of Real Seafood Company’s finest dishes paired with a special selection of beer and wine, while they enjoy a first tour of the new restaurant.  At the close of the evening, a significant portion of the proceeds will benefit the Griffins Youth Foundation.

Boasting as the fifth of this particular concept for Mainstreet Ventures Restaurant Group (mainstreetventuresinc.com),  Real Seafood Company in Grand Rapids, like the original location in downtown Ann Arbor, MI (est. 1975), will carry on the tradition of sourcing the freshest, sustainably sourced fish and highest quality shellfish from around the world with an emphasis on the waters of New England, The Great Lakes & the Gulf of Mexico.

Upon entering the restaurant, guests will be greeted with a 28 square foot hand-painted mural crafted by nationally renowned Saginaw-based artist, Jim Perkins, and a large, open concept dining room highlighted with light oak wood surfaces and brass accents.  For those wishing to dine al fresco, Real Seafood Company accommodates with a spacious outdoor patio area equipped with its own fully stocked bar.
