The Lemon Wheeler Building was erected in 1883 For Samuel M. Lemon by architect William G. Robinson. Samuel M. Lemon was an Irish immigrant who arrived in Grand Rapids in 1880. After working for a New York-based grocer firm, he founded Lemon and Wheeler Company. Lemon and Wheeler began as a wholesale grocers. Years of disrepair and neglect left the building in very poor condition. In 1999, renovation occurred to bring the building into a modern office building.
