CWD Real Estate Investment is excited to welcome Real Seafood Company to 111 Lyon in Downtown Grand Rapids. The restaurant will occupy western corner of the site, anchoring the newly developed retail spaces in Grand Rapids along Lyon St and Monroe Ave.
It was previously announced that Texas de Brazil would anchor the site. Due to complications set in by COVID-19, the restaurant group was unable to move forward with the opening. However, this created an opportunity for Real Seafood Co., a sister restaurant of The Chop House and Palio of Grand Rapids, to step in.
Real Seafood Co.’s menu is centered around “seafood as it should be.” The contemporary seafood restaurant serves a variety of fresh fish, extensive raw bar options, top-grade steaks and more. In addition, Real Seafood Co. also offers private dining, patio seating and happy hour, making it a prime destination for formal and casual outings.
Real Seafood Co. currently has four locations, two of which are in Michigan. Its first West Michigan location will anchor the 111 Lyon retail development that was completed earlier this Spring.
111 Lyon’s location within the city’s urban core places Real Seafood Co. at the very center of the action. The restaurant’s seafood-focused menu brings a new amenity to the surrounding hospitality, entertainment, and corporate business functions. “We are excited and committed to procuring the freshest seafood available and providing a memorable guest experience in a unique atmosphere,” says Kevin Gudejko, President and CEO of Real Seafood Co.
Originally constructed in the 1970s, 111 Lyon has been an iconic tribute to the city’s culture and history. While these aspects are important to its presence, the site has remained mostly unchanged over the decades.
The 111 Lyon retail development began in 2019, introducing four new retail spaces in Grand Rapids while making significant improvements to the site’s accessibility and aesthetic. The improved site includes: ADA ramps connecting the upper and lower-level plazas, snowmelt systems in the sidewalk, a new lower-level common area lobby, and more.
“It’s been exciting to see things come together at 111 Lyon,” says Scott Wierda, Managing Partner at CWD Real Estate Investment. “We went into this project with the intention of creating a destination that helps cultivate the energy and activity Downtown Grand Rapids has seen in the last few years. Real Seafood Co. will provide an excellent dining option to visitors at the surrounding hotels, the convention center, and the surrounding corporate offices.”
111 Lyon recently welcomed the urban grocery concept, DGX, and a fully renovated Fifth Third Bank branch. In addition to the development at 111 Lyon, a number of major projects have taken place in the surrounding area including the neighboring RDV Corporation headquarters at 200 Monroe, the curtain wall renovation at the Amway Grand Plaza, and the various projects along Medical Mile.
“Grand Rapids continues to grow, and we’re thrilled to be a part of the next chapter in the city’s development,” adds Gudejko.
Real Seafood Co. will open its first West Michigan location in Q1 2022 at 141 Lyon St NW in Downtown Grand Rapids with convenient parking available in the neighboring Vandenberg Center Ramp.
