On September 20th, Grand Rapids-based fashion designer, RC Caylan, plans to unveil his Spring/Summer 2020 Collection with a benefit fashion show for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). The show takes place in the Ambassador Ballroom at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Downtown Grand Rapids.
RC Caylan is the Creative Director and Designer at his own brand, RC Caylan Atelier. Caylan specializes in creating custom-made dresses for a variety of special occasions, all from his studio located at 80 Ottawa Ave NW. Besides Caylan, 80 Ottawa is home to a variety of restaurants, retail, and office spaces in Grand Rapids.
According to Caylan, despite the vast selection of garments available on racks today, custom pieces allows the client to get exactly what they're looking for in a fit and design.
Born and raised in the Phillippines, Caylan's influences vary greatly from designers native to his home-country and renowned international names. Nearly nine years after moving to the United States, Caylan has created his own brand that has appeared on runways alongside the industry's biggest names.
Caylan's latest collection for the Spring/Summer 2020 season made its debut at New York Fashion Week this past weekend. The collection, entitled Eclectique Mode, explores the ebb and flow of classiness and the inner party animal.
The show entitled Type 1 to None: Raise for the Cure with Couture, will bring a taste of high fashion to Grand Rapids. Attendees can expect an evening of food, music, and fashion, all while raising money for the JDRF.
Caylan's studio is located at 80 Ottawa in the heart of the City. In addition to a variety of office spaces in Grand Rapids, it is also home to some of the community's favorite restaurants including. Little Bird, Big O's Pizza, and Parsley.
