Installation Brings Splash of Color to Grand Rapids Skies

Bringing colorful inflatables to the rooftops of downtown buildings

January 22, 2021

The Color the Skyline installation has landed in Downtown Grand Rapids as a part of this year's World of Winter event. The installation places 10 colorful inflatables on the rooftops of buildings across downtown to bring some color to the dreary winter skies.

World of Winter is an annual community-wide event that celebrates Michigan’s winter season. Organized by Downtown Grand Rapids Inc, World of Winter takes place between January 15 - February 28, 2021. During this time, a variety of family-friendly events and installations are placed throughout Downtown Grand Rapids, inviting the community to interact with the temporary pieces and support the businesses downtown.

The Color the Skyline installation, provided by Wicked Pro Events, takes place on the rooftops of a number of buildings downtown. The idea is to bring some color to the city’s skyline as people are driving through downtown on their morning commute or coming to check out the rest of the World of Winter Festival.

The installation spans across a number of CWD Real Estate properties and various community partners. CWD’s combination of retail, residential, and office spaces in Grand Rapids helped place the inflatables around the city’s core.

In addition to the Color the Skyline installation, the World of Winter Festival brings dozens of other installations and events to the city. Many of these events are interactive, family-friendly activities that all are welcomed to enjoy while practicing standard COVID-19 health and safety precautions.
